In September 2009 the Apple store stopped selling 16Gb Ipod Touch models , as the  new 3rd Generation (3G) Ipod Touch was released in 8Gb ,32Gb and 64Gb capacities only . No 16Gb 3rd Generation model exists. The only 16Gb options available are the 16Gb 1G(1st generation) and 16Gb 2G (2nd generation) Ipod Touch models.

The first  question to answer is which generation iPod Touch to buy , the 1G or 2G. I would strongly recommend the 2G and here are my reasons:

  • The 2nd Generation(2G) is much cheaper  than the 1G. The 1st generation of Ipod Touch was released in 2007 and the 2nd generation in 2008. In that year they brought the price  down from $399 to $299
  • The  2nd generation (2G) was released a full year later and is faster and has later software and better internals than  the 1G. It also has a sleeker look to it.They also added an external volume control and built-in speakers so you get much more value for your money.

The online Apple store doesn't sell these anymore the only option is to buy from an authorised reseller or distributor . There are many of these out there but I recommend Amazon.com.My reasons:You can save more than 20% ($299 $230 ) on the Apple price  buying it new from Amazon.com  . The option exists to buy refurbished and 'like-new' products for those interested in saving more than 35% ($299 $184 ). You can have it shipped free using the Super Saver Shipping option. Also Amazon.com is the largest most trusted online store so you are confident that all credit card transactions are secure.
